Neotek has developed the first cold cathode fixture tested and approved
by Underwriters Laboratories, Inc.
The Neotek Cold Cathode Fixture meets UL standards for use
in both residential and commercial applications.
The complete systems requires no on site assembly which shortens
the project time line, the cost of labor for installation and the need
for lengthy code inspections. Since 1984, Neotek has been manufacturing and installing cold cathode and neon systems for lighting designers and architects worldwide. Neotek has always been an architectural lighting company helping the designers and end-users create the best lighting for their projects. We have worked closely with award winning lighting designers, implementing their designs and meeting their highly creative goals. The company has built its reputation on providing quality service, installation, and products. Our portfolio page contains many of the award winning projects in which we have been privileged to participate. By crating the first cold cathode fixture with a self-contained transformer, Neotek has changed the way cold cathode has been installed since the 1920’s. From
the start, Neotek has been driven to improve its products.
We began by improving the component parts we used in our lighting
systems, such as the wire, the stand-offs, and the way the tubes were
processed. In 1991,we
decided to create a brand new fixture; one with an enclosed transformer;
continuous line of light; can be used for residential as well a
commercial lighting, and; was programmable.
Between 1991 and 1997, we tested and perfected the completely
enclosed cold cathode system and obtained a utility patent on the
fixture and the way it is manufactured (U.S. Patent #6,050,700).
In 1999, Underwriters Laboratories began testing the fixture, transformers,
and components for safety. For
three years Neotek worked closely with UL engineers, fully testing
the system as a factory assembled unit.
The Neotek Cold Cathode Fixture was tested and approved
on UL5, UL48 and UL1598 safety standards, passing all tests for temperature
and dielectric, as well as tests for outdoor use in damp locations.
It was additionally tested for Canada in compliance with CSA
Standard C22.2 No. 207-M89.
After passing these tests, the staff at Underwriters Laboratories
agreed the fixture should be approved under the UL-UXYT
as a fully assembled fixture, versus UL-IFAY which
“provides a system of parts that are field installed”.

Laboratory Neotek’s manufacturing procedures were inspected and approved by UL. Neotek is now UL registered under UL-UXYT stringent requirements and our manufacturing plant will be inspected no less than four times per year to assure we follow Underwriters Laboratories strict assembly procedures and maintain UL compliance. Our drive for perfection has gone beyond obtaining a patent and UL approval. We met with the engineers of the leading dimmer manufactures to insure our fixture is compatible with the most commonly used dimmer systems. We continue to work on new product designs and will soon be introducing more new cold cathode options. As of now, we have the only UL approved cold cathode self-contained system that can be made to size, shape and color for use both indoors and out. It is compatible with the best dimming systems in use today and can be computer programmed to dim, flash and cross-fade.
